Our client has specialized engineering, procurement and construction activities in the UAE. They are currently looking for a General Manager (Automation) in Abu Dhabi. Job purpose: To oversee the management of the company affairs and undertake strategic planning for the future by assembling, coordinating and integrating the human, financial, physical, informational and other relevant resources needed to achieve the company’s goals and attain the maximum profitability. You will be responsible for leading the general management of the company, overseeing project teams, utilizing control methods to assess the efficiency and effectiveness of the operations. Your main responsibilities:
• Direct and coordinate activities of businesses or departments concerned with projects.
• Manage staff, department managers effectively; preparing work schedules and assigning specific duties.
• Review financial statements, activity reports, other performance data to measure productivity and goal achievement and to determine areas needing cost reduction and program improvement.
• Establish and implement departmental policies, goals, objectives, and procedures, conferring with board members, organization officials and staff members as necessary.
• Determine staffing requirements, interview, hire and organize training new employees.
• Monitor businesses and agencies to ensure that they efficiently and effectively provide needed services, while staying within budgetary limits.
• Direct and coordinate organization’s financial and budget activities to fund operations, maximize investments and increase efficiency.
• Negotiating long term contracts to achieve corporate objectives and support regional market growth.
• Managing and providing oversight on all infrastructure development projects.
• Developing and maintaining relationships with other company business units and key stakeholders and performing other related duties as required.
• Presenting the company to potential clients through feasible communication channels to build long term stability for the company operations.
• To be a representative of the company at industry events and tradeshows, which will aid in generating new business leads and contacts.
• Identify and address operational problems in a timely fashion and forecast the operational needs, including technology, facilities and equipment.
• Responsible for developing strategies to develop and increase our client base through client relationships.
• Well equipped in contract negotiations, sales reporting and forecasting. Drafting professional, solution
-based proposals that address the needs of our clients efficiently and effectively organize the operations to maximize profitability.Education: Masters in Electrical Engineering and/or Masters in Management Engineering. MBA in Marketing and Finance/Economics from an internationally recognized university is an advantage. A degree in Human Resources or Organization Development would be a plus. Experience and skills: 18 to 25 years experience with:
• a minimum of 8 continuous years as Asst. General Manager/Regional Project Director
• and minimum 5 years as General Manager in a Contracting,Electromechanical,Multinational
• and minimum of 10 years experience in the position of Project Manager throughout the Power or Energy sector, Water, Infrastructure and Oil/Gas Projects A track record in either EPC Contracting, Operations and Maintenance or Energy Consultancy throughout the Power or Energy Sector, Water, Infrastructure and Oil/Gas Projects is essential. Experience in business development, contract negotiation and project management within a power and/or water environment is advantageous. Good planning and organizational skills. Excellent communication and negotiation skills. Customer oriented and relationship builder. Computer Skills: Competency in MS office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook). Working knowledge of ERP and SAP. Languages: Good command of English, Arabic is an added advantage.
