The technical superintendent is responsible for planning and arranging all technical maintenance and repairs needed on a ship. They are expected to ensure the full compliance with all class, flag state, or any other standards and requirements that apply to their job; it is up to them to ensure that the vessel is complying with all the safety rules. They are expected to keep down costs and optimize the efficiency of the boat; they are responsible for ordering any spare parts and making sure that they arrive. They will need to plan all maintenance activities and liaise with all operational staff and sub -contractors in regards to planning and implementation of all required tasks.
