Ability to design of offshore power supply, power generation and distribution systems, including switch gear, turbine and engine driven generators, large electric motors, UPS equipment, associated control gear, marine navigation aid system, electric heat tracing system, cathodic protection system and cabling • Analyses, existing or proposed electrical systems for onshore plant and offshore production facilities, and prepares or reviews electrical engineering design work connected with minor and major capital projects and expense items, for modifications and alterations to existing facilities or installation of new equipment and facilities, either in-house, or through outside contractors. • Managing Projects depending upon their value/nature may be implemented internally or externally. Ensures that all projects are implemented in accordance with the company’s health, safety and environment policies and procedures • Provides the company with expert technical advice to Management for electrical engineering matters as required on the various projects. • Troubleshoots complex or recurring electrical problems and recommends sound and cost effective solutions as the problems arise • Work in cross-functional teams to provide appropriate project scopes, cost estimates, schedules, coordination, management, and implementation within regulatory and company policy compliance. Presents proposals to Management for decision and approval • Maintains and updates electrical engineering drawings, standards and specifications. • Responsible for the development and implementation of various systems engineering project particularly when they have a significant electrical engineering component • Ensures all drawings, plans, manuals and data books are up-to-date and ‘as built’, and directs draughtsmen to carry out all corrections to drawings to reflect any alternations, modifications and additions to electrical systems and components • Carries out various duties related to capital investment projects and expense items for minor electrical modifications, improvements and alterations to existing electrical equipment to be executed internally. Includes conducting feasibility studies, developing cost estimates in conjunction with other engineering or finance staff, personally preparing conceptual or detailed designs or reviewing vendors’ final design drawings for approved projects, preparing Capital Authorization Requests (AFE’s) for approval, preparing bills of materials, participating in preparing purchase orders, following up on quotations, conducting technical bid analyses, answering queries from vendors and recommending suppliers or contractors • Supervises the implementation of minor electrical modifications and improvement projects carried out in-house to ensure execution and completion to established Company standards and specifications
